The Bengals sprinted to a 41-22 lead at halftime and never let SUNYIT closer than 13 points the rest of the way. Buffalo State shot 51-percent from the field for the game, while holding the Wildcats to just 33-percent. The Bengals outscored SUNYIT 54-20 in the paint and 44-20 off the bench.
John Lawal led a balanced Bengals’ attack with 10 points. Jay Wingate added eight points, a career-high 10 assists and six rebounds. Jay Newton also had a career-high nine points, and Gregg Jones and Jon Allport-Cohoon each scored eight.
Nick Grimmer led SUNYIT with 19 points and eight rebounds. Chris Plante added nine points, and Rich Phillips had eight.
Buffalo State will host Fredonia on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
