New York University 60, Chicago 51

NEW YORK — The New York University men`s basketball team recorded its second consecutive University Athletic Association victory, defeating the University of Chicago 60-51 on Friday, January 28, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

The Violets (12-5, 2-4 UAA), held the Maroons (7-10, 3-3) scoreless for the final 6:08 of the first half, as well as the first 3:23 of the second half. During that span, NYU expanded its lead from 20-16 to 33-16, and never led by less than 14 points the rest of the way.

NYU took a game-high 21-point lead, 56-35, on Jared Kildare`s layup with 4:38 left in the second half.

The Violets` Jimmy Janeczek connected on 4-6 three-pointers and finished with a game-high 18 points. Jason Boone added eight points and nine rebounds for NYU, while Jeff Gilkerson also chipped in with eight points.

Chicago was held to 31.4% shooting form the field and were forced into 18 turrnovers. They did not record an assist in the contest.

Justin Waldie led the Maroons with 10 points.
