University of New England 74, Wentworth 67

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Led by a career-high 28 points from junior Mark Regis (Monroe, N.H.), the University of New England slipped by Wentworth Institute of Technology, 74-67, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match-up at the Campus Center.

Regis was 5-for-7 from 3-point land and 9 of 16 overall. He poured in 17 points in the second half, including eight straight midway through that frame as the Nor'easters seized control, 54-50.

The contest remained tight the rest of the way until sophomore Nick Farynaz (Gray, Maine) buried a trey from the right wing with one minute remaining to give UNE a 71-64 advantage.

Junior Matt McManus (Cumberland, R.I.) supported the winning effort by scoring 14 points, including 4-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Farynaz concluded the evening with 12 points.

The Nor'easters (6-10, 2-7 CCC) overcame poor free throw shooting (52.4 percent) by converting 11 of 21 three-point attempts.

Senior forward Carmino DeMercurio (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) led four Wentworth (6-11, 4-5) players in double figures by scoring 14 points to go with eight rebounds and three blocked shots. First-year guard Sherrad Prezzie-Blue (Norwalk, Conn.) scored 13 points, classmate Jason DaCosta (Cambridge, Mass.) had 12 and sophomore Troy Ramey (Newport, R.I.) added 11.

The Leopards return to the court on Saturday when they play host to Gordon College, while the Nor'easters travel to Eastern Nazarene College.
