Mississippi College 83, University of the Ozarks 63

CLINTON, MS — Mississippi College outscored the University of the Ozarks 28-13 in the final ten minutes to blow out the visiting Eagles 83-63 in A.E. Wood Coliseum and improved their record to 15-2, 13-2 in American Southwest Conference play.

The Eagles (9-8, 7-7 ASC) stayed in the game and trailed 55-50 with 9:44 remaining before the Choctaws ended the game with a flurry. A Lonnie Vasquez ignited the run with a three pointer. Vasquez eneded the game with a team high 14 points on 5-7 shooting.

Cedric Armstrong (12), Jason Walker (10) and Tyler Winford (10) also reached double figures for MC. Willie Powers finished with eight points and seven rebounds.

Ozarks was led by senior guard Brent Johnson who finished with eleven points and three rebounds. Johnson struggled from the field making just 3-13 shot attempts. Habeeb Kareem ended the night with ten points and a game high nine rebounds. Brad Johnson, David Hamilton and Josh Joyner each finished with nine points.

In the second half MC shot a sizzling 55 percent and forced Ozarks into a 36 percent shooting half. The Choctaws ended the game making 51 percent while Ozarks was good on 37 percent of their shots.
