Since the inception of the ASC for the start of the 1996-97 campaign, the Indians own a 100-20 all-time mark for a .833 winning percentage in conference games. Mississippi College is second at 90-16 (.849).
A local product from Merkel HS, Riggan had two blocks to give him 80 for his career and surpass Eric Burness (78 from 1991-95) on the all-time list. Also during this, his sophomore year, he has set school records for single-game (7) and season blocks (49).
Host McMurry employed a balanced offense of five scorers in double figures, led by Michael Qualls--another Merkel standout--who had 17 points off the bench. Kelon Lewis and Cole Dickerson each had 16, and Riggan and J.R. Williams contributed 10 apiece.
For the Mountaineers, Justin Evans scored 22 points, Jonathan Young 19 and Lance Hrncir, 12.
With McMurry leading 53-51 at the 10:12 mark of the second half, the Indians used a 28-9 run over the next seven minutes to seize control of the game.
McMurry played without the services of leading scorer and rebounder Travis Tennison, who rested from the flu. But the Indians showed their depth tonight as the bench outscored Schreiner's 38-7 and Riggan also pulled down nine rebounds for game high honors.
