The Presidents (4-14, 1-3 PAC) held the lead for most of the first half, but a late run by the Titans gave them a 57-46 halftime cushion. Westminster then outscored the Presidents by a 59-55 margin in the second half to cruise to the victory.
W&J outrebounded the Titans (12-6, 2-2 PAC), 49-37, and shot 55 percent (42-of-76), but could not overcome 26 turnovers.
O’Connor made 8-of-17 three-point attempts and added seven rebounds and five steals. Ed Pagley added 14 points, while Mark DeMonaco totaled 13 points and nine assists. Westminster made 21-of-60 three-pointers and 40-of-86 from the field overall. A total of 13 Titans scored at least one basket in the victory.
Sophomore guard Jon Koch (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) led the W&J effort with 28 points, six assists and three steals. Sophomore forward Matt Vorndran (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) scored the first 10 W&J points and finished with 15 and eight rebounds, while freshman guard Tyler Trutza (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) had 13 points and five boards.
Sophomore guard Anthony Hairston (Roanoke, Va./Roanoke Catholic) rounded out four Presidents in double figures with 12. He also added five rebounds and four steals.
Washington & Jefferson hosts Thiel in the finale of the first half of its PAC schedule on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
