The St. Olaf men's basketball team were in dire need of an offensive spark in their 58-45 loss to St. John's Wednesday night in Skoglund Center.
After a low scoring first half, the Oles found themselves down 24-23 at the break with neither team exceeding 33 percent from the field.
St. John's pulled away in the second half shooting 47 percent and only committing four turnovers.
The Oles shot only 33 percent from the field in the game and 21 percent from beyond the arc. They also committed 15 turnovers compared with nine by the Johnnies.
Leading St. Olaf in scoring were Jon Butala (So., West St. Paul, Minn./ Henry Sibley) and Jon Bain (So., Austin, Minn.) each with ten points. Bain also had 15 rebounds.
Matt Ohme (So., Bloomington, Minn./ Jefferson) of St. John's was the game leader in scoring with 14 points.
With the loss the Oles fall to 3-9 in the MIAC.
St. Olaf heads up to Moorhead, Minn. Saturday afternoon to take on Concordia starting at 3 p.m.
