New York City Tech 99, Centenary 91

BROOKLYN, NY — YELLOW JACKETS STING CENTENARY, 99-91. The New York City College of Technology men’s basketball team won for the sixth time in the team’s last seven games with a 99-91 victory over Centenary College tonight at City Tech’s Klitgord Center. The Yellow Jackets scored twice within the first minute of the game, forcing Centenary head coach Andy DeStephano to call a timeout, but the home squard never relinquished the lead. Senior center Shacun Malave (DeWitt Clinton / Bronx, NY) led the victors with 17 points.

City Tech’s (11-5) backcourt tandem of senior Nkosi Hamilton (August Martin / Queens, NY) and junior Clyde Forteau (St. Raymond’s / Bronx, NY) each scored 16 points for the Yellow Jackets, who squandered a 22-point lead (79-57, 8:54 remaining) into single digits with two minutes left in the contest.

Centenary College (0-16) which had five players in double digits, were led by freshman guard Josh Davidson (Ocean City / Ocean City, NJ) with 20 points. Junior guard Andre Harris (Morristown / Morristown, NJ) scored 18 points for the Cyclones. He was followed by senior forward Brian Sherlock (Walkill Valley / Franklin, NJ) with 16 points and reserves Kelvin Kennedy (Paterson Catholic / Paterson, NJ) with 15 points and Robert Arvidson (Monroe / Monroe, NJ) with 14 points.

Yellow Jacket senior forward Jason Senior collected 13 points, while junior guard Kareem Hanley (Canarsie / Brooklyn, NY) and sophomore Otis Saylee (Seward Park / New York, NY) chipped in 10 points each.

Next up for City Tech is CUNYAC rival Medgar Evers on Saturday, January 29, at the Klitgord Center at 2:00 pm, following the women’s game at noon.
