SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Freshman point guard Megan Ferguson (Plainville, CT) tied her career high with 12 points, which included four key free throws in the final 1:01, as Western New England College remained undefeated in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 53-48 win over visiting Norwich University

Junior center Lisa Masella (Newtown, CT) added 10 points and six rebounds for the Golden Bears who improved their record to 9-4 (3-0 in the conference) with their fifth consecutive victory.

Western New England College led 29-26 at half-time and held an 11-point lead at 39-28 with 12:22 remaining in the contest. Norwich pulled within three at 47-44 before Ferguson made two straight charity shots for a 48-44 advantage with 1:01 left.

Norwich senior forward Miranda Perras (Mooers, NY) made a lay-up to make the score 49-46 with 44 seconds remaining.

Ferguson sank two more four shots for a 51-46 lead with 20 seconds left and Norwich couldn't catch up.

Junior guard Allison Flynn (Salem, MA) led the Cadets (14-3, 3-2) with 15 points while senior forward Kim Sweeney (Fair Haven, VT) had 13 points and eight rebounds.

This was the second straight loss for Norwich who had a 14-game winning streak snapped by Emmanuel (59-54) this past Saturday.
