An Allen Leight putback gave the Hawks the lead to start the game. Unfortunately, it would be the only lead of the game for Hilbert, as the Behrend Lions shot 50% from the field and recorded 10 offensive rebounds in the first half. Penn State Behrend recorded 15 assists to zero turnovers in the opening stanza.
Hilbert trailed 51-25 to start the second half, and tried desperately to mount a comeback. Glen Ufland had 10 second-half points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.
Ufland finished the game with a team-high 16 points, and was 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Senior Sam Gioia was the only other Hawk in double figures with 12. Tom Lulich led the Behrend Lions with 21 points, including seven three-pointers.
The Hawks look to bounce back on Friday, January 28 as they take on AMCC opponent Lake Erie College. The game is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
