The Shoremen led by 11 points late in the second half before a 9-0 run by Muhlenberg cut the margin to two points, at 36-34, by the intermission. Washington came out strong again in the second half, pushing the lead to 56-44 on a Webb three-pointer with 14:04 to play. Muhlenberg answered with a 12-0 run to knot the score at 56-56 on a lay-up by Chris Pothering with 11:42 remaining. The Mules grabbed their first lead since the 17:20 mark of the first half when Justin Fields converted a lay-up with 10:02 to go to put Muhlenberg ahead, 60-59.
After tying the score twice in the ensuing minutes, Washington pulled back in front on a free throw by senior guard John "China" Alexander with 8:30 to play, but Muhlenberg answered on the next possession as Jeff Stewart made a lay-up with 8:16 left to give the Mules a 64-63 lead.
Washington then went on its crucial 20-3 run, capped off by a Webb lay-up with 2:27 which gave the Shoremen the biggest lead of the game at 85-69. The Shoremen shot 8-of-11 from the field during the spurt. Junior guard Drew Hill and Alexander hooked up for one of the more memorable plays during the run as Hill found Alexander for a backdoor alley-oop lay-up with 4:38 left to put Washington up, 77-66.
Webb led all players in scoring with his 28 points, shared game-high rebounding honors with his eight boards, led all players in assists with his career-high seven assists, and swiped a game-high three steals. He shot 9-of-13 from the field, two-of-four from beyond the arc, and 8-for-10 at the line in the win.
Sophomore forward Joe Breslin added 14 points for the Shoremen on five-of-seven shooting from the field. Alexander added 12 points, while junior guard Travis Moore tallied 11 points and six rebounds and knocked down three of his five three-point field goal attempts.
Tom Scott led Muhlenberg with 17 points and was a perfect three-of-three from beyond the arc. Stewart added 14 points in 21 minutes before fouling out, while Ryan Bonda finished with 12 points and Pothering finished with 11. Chase Licata tied Webb for game-high honors in rebounding with eight boards.
The Shoremen shot 54% from the field, while the Mules shot 42%. Washington was 19-of-33 (58%) from the floor in the second half.
