The Gophers (13-4, 4-2 CAC) trailed by as many as six points in each half and trailed 52-48 with 11:07 left to play when they reeled off 13 unanswered points to go ahead for good. Five different players contributed points to the 13-0 run, which was capped by a conventional three-point play by Trevor Quinn that staked Goucher to a 61-52 lead with 5:57 remaining.
The Saints (6-9, 2-4 CAC) got as close as 64-61 on a three-point basket by Charles Atakora with 2:15 showing on the clock, but were held 0-for-5 from the field the rest of the way.
Garrett Smith (Largo, MD/Springbrook) was the leading scorer and rebounder for Goucher as he produced 18 points and grabbed 14 boards. Kip McCoy supplied Marymount with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
With the win, the Gophers improved to 8-0 at home this season and they now are in a three-way tie with Mary Washington and York for first place in the CAC.
