With Edgewood leading 90-87, the Warriors’ B.J. Miller evened the score on his three-point basket with three seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to OT. But Wisconsin Lutheran shot just 2-of-10 from the field in the extra period.
Seth Cooper scored a game-high 31 points and was 19-of-21 from the free throw line to lead the Eagles. Cooper was one of five Edgewood players to score in double figures.
David Michalkiewicz tallied 18 points and dished out seven assists in the victory. Greg Blaska scored 15 points, followed by freshmen Charlie Averkamp and John Fahey, who each added 14. Fahey, who made his first collegiate start tonight, shot 5-of-7 from the floor, including a pair of three pointers.
Wisconsin Lutheran was led by 29 points and 13 assists by Kevin Christensen. Brian Hagel registered 26 points. Christensen and Hagel combined for eight of the team’s 14 three-point baskets. Miller had 15 points, while Lewis Jiles had 12.
Edgewood College will travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering for an LMC contest on Wednesday, Jan. 26. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
