Elms 83, Castleton State 77

CASTLETON, VT — Elms College senior guard Kyle Seyboth (Seekonk, MA) scored a season-high 29 points, including nine 3-pointers and the Blazers rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to post an 83-77 win over host Castleton State College in Sunday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men’s basketball game at Castleton, Vermont.

With the win, the Blazers won their fourth straight conference game to improve to 10-6 overall, 6-2 NAC. Castleton State fell to 8-10 overall, 3-5 NAC.

For the second straight year, Seyboth scorched the Spartans on their home court. In 2004, he scored a collegiate career-high 30 points that included 10 three-pointers.

The Blazers, who shot just 27.8-percent and trailed 36-25 at intermission, netted 58 second-half points on 51.4-percent shooting from the field.

Junior forward Lonnie Branyon III (West Haven, CT) had a monster game for the Blazers as he recorded a double-double with a season-high 18 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman forward Renato Lindmets (Springfield, MA) notched his fourth double-double of the year with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and sophomore guard John Ancrum (Harlem, NY) added 12 points and a game-high nine assists for the Blazers in the victory.

Elms College returns to non-conference play on Thursday, January 27 against Nichols College. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Maguire Center.
