The victory was the Violets` first win in UAA competition this season.
NYU was paced by the steady shooting of Jared Kiladare and Jimmy Janeczek. Kildare finished with a team-high 26 points, while Janeczek added 18. Both recorded five three-point field goals.
Case led for the majority of the first half before the Violets` Matt Basford tied the game at 37 on a three-point field goal with five minutes to play. Case then went on an 11-2 run over the next two minutes before NYU answered with a 5-0 run of their own, cutting into the Case lead at halftime, 48-44.
In the second half, NYU (11-5, 1-4) took its first lead of the game, 55-53, on Janeczek`s three-pointer with 15:07 to play. Less then two minutes later, the Violets went on a 13-5 run, thanks to 11 straight points from Kildare, and opened up their largest lead of the game 71-58.
Case (5-11, 1-4) pulled to within three points, 73-70 with 6:22 left in the game, but was not able to get any closer.
Daniel Falcon chipped in with a "double-double" of 14 points and 11 rebounds for NYU, while Chael Clark added 10 rebounds. Overall, the Violets dominated the Spartans on the glass, out- rebounding them 52-38.
Carson Orsen led Case with a game-high 27 points.
