Huntingdon 70, Thomas More 50

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky — Thomas More shot just 23 percent from the field Saturday as they lost to Huntingdon, 70-50, at Connor Convocation Center.

Things looked promising for the Saints at the onset as they raced to an 11-2 lead in the first six minutes. However, Huntingdon scored the next 13 points to take the lead.

Two free throws by freshman Jered Ferguson (Flatwood/Russell) and a R.K. Thurman, pictured (Portsmouth, OH/Portsmouth) basket gave TMC its final lead of the game.

Thomas More battled on the boards, out-rebounding Huntingdon, 44-43. However, they couldn't get shots to fall as TMC took 11 more shots thanks to 20 offensive rebounds.

Thurman had a huge game for the Saints, scoring 14 points, pulling down 15 board and rejecting two shots. Sophomore E.J. Haynes (Cincinnati, OH/Walnut Hills) added nine points and a team-high three blocks, while senior Chad Wachs (Park Hills/Covington Catholic) and junior (Allensville/Todd County Central) chipped in with eight each.

The Saints will be back in action Sunday when they host the Fisk Bulldogs at 3 p.m.
