Ohio Northern made its first three shots from the floor, all three-pointers, and ran out to a 13-4 lead with 14:35 left in the first half. Capital rallied to make it 18-11 on a Eric Rosenbeck putback at the 9:40 mark. The Crusaders then went cold going six minutes without a basket allowing the Polar Bears to score eight-straight to make it 26-11 with 3:52 left in the half. Capital then went on a 6-0 run, but Ohio Northern scored twice in the final minute for a 30-17 lead at the break. Capital converted just seven of 23 shots for the half (30-percent).
Ohio Northern started the second half where they ended the first as the used a 24-15 run in the first 10 minutes of the half to lead 54-32 with 9:40 left in the game. The Polar Bears then would cruise the rest of the way for the 73-54 win.
Senior guard David Kalb led two Crusaders in double-figures with 11 points. Sophomore point guard David Johnson finished with 10 points.
Greg Badenhop paced the Polar Bears with a game-high 27 points.
Following the loss, the Crusaders fall to 11-5 overall and 7-3 in the OAC while the Polar Bears improve to 8-8 and 5-4 in the conference.
The Crusaders return to action Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. traveling to Tiffin to take on Heidelberg College.
