MacMurray 98, Maryville (Mo.) 82JACKSONVILLE, Ill — MacMurray College won their 2nd conference game in a row as they knocked off Maryville University 98-82 on Saturday. The Highlanders are 2-3 after starting out 0-3, so they fell they are back in the hunt with Westminster coming up on the 26th. The Saints fell to 4-1 in the SLIAC as they seemed to wear down at the end pf the game and started missing free throws ((10-18) in the 2nd half. Regan (16), Klein (13), Hebl (11) and Damrell (10) all hit double figures but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Maryville won the battle of the boards (44-41) but 24 turnovers and 3-19 from long range took them out of the game. The Highlanders shot 53% in the first half and held a a 57-44 advantage at hlaf time. They shot 46% for the game with a 12-32 (37%) effort from beyond the arc. McIntosh got his shooting eye back, from the field as he went 5-8 and was 3-5 from long range. He totaled 16 points and was 1-6 from the free throw line. Freshman, Billy Long, had a nice day with 13 points as he went 5-9 from the field and 3-6 for treys. Hipsher pulled down 7 boards, Eberhart & Compton 6 and Carroll added 5 assists as this was a quality team win. MacMurray cut down on their fouls and had 17 assists to 19 turnovers, so they are hoping to carry this momentum into Fulton, Mo. and get even with their conference record.
