Lawrence (11-3, 6-2 MWC) moved into sole possession of first place in the conference with the victory. Lawrence's win, coupled with Ripon College's loss, put the Vikings one game up in the standings at the midway point of the conference season.
Braier, reigning Midwest Conference Player of the Year, hit 9 of 11 shots from the floor and connected on his only 3-pointer. Lawrence got 14 points from Jason Holinbeck and Brendan Falls.
The Vikings built a 32-24 lead at the half and then kept Lake Forest (9-6, 5-3) at arm's length throughout the second half. The Foresters never got closer than eight points after the break.
Lawrence put the game away in the final five minutes. A pair of free throws cut Lawrence's lead to 56-46, but the Vikings rattled off the next 11 points. Dan Evans started it with a layup and Braier followed with a 3-pointer. Holinbeck and Evans then both had conventional three-point plays where they scored on layups, were fouled and made the free throw.
Lawrence converted on 52.9 percent (27-51) of its shots from the floor while limiting Lake Forest to 38.6 percent (17-44) shooting.
Greg Klos paced Lake Forst with 12 points. Dodd Browning had 11 and Franklyn Beckford had 10.
