DePauw closed the first half with a 19-4 run to break an 18-18 tie and take a 37-22 halftime advantage. The Tigers led by as many as 26 in the second half as they shot 64 percent over the final 20 minutes.
"Our defense was really good in the first half and set the tone for the whole game," DePauw head coach Bill Fenlon said.
Four Tigers scored in double figures led by Steve Schott and Austin Brown with 14 apiece. Todd Capes and Dre Smith each scored 10 in the victory. Smith hauled down seven rebounds as DePauw held a 41-27 advantage on the boards. Joey Hanger recorded a game-high seven assists for the Tigers.
Matthew Jakes led Rhodes with 15 points followed by Justin Strong and Kevin Campion with 12 each and Rami Almefty with 10 apiece. Almefty paced the Lynx with seven boards and, along with Campion dished out five assists.
DePauw hosts Hendrix on Sunday at 1 p.m., while Rhodes travels to Rose-Hulman. Hendrix defeated Rose-Hulman tonight by a 55-51 score.
