Maryville battled to an early lead (19-16), but soon watched their lead dwindle due to poor shooting. MC would not score for the next five minutes and go to the lockerroom at the half down by eight 31-23.
MC would convert the first four possessions of the second half after four consecutive King turnovers to close the gap.
The Scots shooting woes would continue throughout the second half. Maryville would finish 1 for 18 (.056%) from beyond the three point arc and MC would shoot a total of 38% from the field for the evening.
King countered with a 52% shooting evening and did not allow Maryville many second opportunity baskets. They out rebounded MC by eleven for the contest.
The Scots were paced by the 19 point efforts of Bobby Golden and Sidney Ellis. Monte Calloway added 16 points in the Scots loss.
King (7-15) was aided by the Scots bench only scoring 8 points on the evening.
