Simpson mounted a 16-0 run over the next 4+ minutes, led by Kara DeNoon who scored six of her 11 points during the span. The Storm led by as much as 21 down the stretch, coasting to the eventual 19-point margin of victory.
In addition to Whiton and DeNoon, Ashley Bogaards scored in double figures, 12, for the Storm.
Dubuque was led by Jenica Kester who charted a game high 21 points. Courtney Musser added 18 points and five assists for the Spartans. Musser, the 5-1 Dubuque point guard, played all 40 minutes.
