New York City Tech 87, Medgar Evers 71

BROOKLYN, NY — The New York City Coilege of Technology men's basketball team won their fifth straight game, 87-71 over Brooklyn-rival Medgar Evers College in CUNY Athletic Conference action. With the win, the Yellow Jackets remain a perfect 7-0 in the league.

City Tech (10-4, 7-0) extended a three-point halftime lead (32-29) to the 16-point final margin with a strong second half. The Yellow Jackets were led by junior guard Clyde Forteau (St. Raymond's/Bronx, NY) with 18 points, his highest output of the season. After being held to single digits in scoring through City Tech's first six games, Forteau has scored ten or more points in seven of the Yellow Jackets last eight games. He also added a game-high four steals.

Senior center Shacun Malave (DeWitt Clinton/Bronx, NY), the defending CUNYAC Player of the Year, added 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. His frontcourt teammates, sophomore Otis Saylee (Seward Park/New York, NY) and Jason Senior (Satellite Academy/Brooklyn, NY) added 15 points and eight rebounds and 10 points and six rebounds respectively.

Medgar Evers (4-12, 2-5 CUNY) was led by forward Kenneth Griffin with 18 points and reserve Jonathan Culpepper with 14 points and seven boards.

Next up for the Yellow Jackets is a rematch of the 2004 CUNYAC Championship game against Lehman College (10-5, 7-1 CUNY) on Saturday.
