Sean Kenney also had a milestone game, as the senior finished with a career-high 25 points on eight of 12 shooting, and a game-high 10 rebounds.
After Hilbert opened the game with the first basket, Pitt-Bradford scored 12 of the next 14 points, including six from sophomore Ryan Race, to take a 12-4 advantage with 14:24 left in the first half. Hilbert responded with a 13-4 run, and took the lead 17-16 on a Dominic Miller lay-in at the 10:15 mark. Hilbert continued their solid play, and took their largest lead of the half, 29-21, after back-to-back jumpers by Kenney.
After taking a 33-28 advantage into the locker room at halftime, the Hawks came out strong. Freshman Dallas Reinard’s consecutive three-pointers to begin the second half pushed Hilbert’s lead to 11. The Hawks never trailed after that, and shot a season-best 53% from the field to seal the victory.
Reinard finished the game three-of-four from behind the arc and ended up with 13 points. Hilbert Freshman Michael Reyes played a solid floor game, recording four assists without turning it over, and also finished with a team-best three steals. Race led the Panthers with 22 points and eight rebounds.
The Hawks men’s basketball team next travels to Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA for a key AMCC contest on Friday, January 21. Game time is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
