SUNY BROCKPORT MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEAT OSWEGO
Golden Eagles win third straight
BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Brandon Williams (Rochester/Edison Tech.) scored a career high 21 points to lead the SUNY Brockport men's basketball team to a 89-73 victory over Oswego. The Golden Eagles improve to 8-4 on the season and 2-2 in the SUNYAC, while the Lakers fall to 12-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
For the second consecutive game, Brockport had five double figure scorers in the victory. Williams pulled down eight rebounds in addition to his 21 points, while Dave Andrews (Huntington Station/Walt Whitman) scored his season high of 16 points, hitting four of seven from behind the arc. Bryan Boswell (Amherst/Sweet Home) scored 12 points, and Shawn Harris (Rochester/Gates-Chili) also scored 12 points, recording his season high. Kellan Skrine (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) put in 11 points in the contest.
Dave Ponza (Solvay) led the Lakers with 20 points, while Mat Burridge (Oswego) scored 16 and had seven boards. Ahmad Mims (Syracuse) scored 14 points and had five rebounds in the game.
Brockport led 58-30 at halftime, shooting 62% in the first half. The Golden Eagles shot 55% for the game, while the Lakers shot 44%. The Golden Eagles had a 38-33 rebounding advantage.
SUNY Brockport returns to action at home on Saturday, January 22, at 2 p.m. when they take on Oneonta.
