This was by far the worst shooting performance by the Privateers this season as they shot only 28 percent from the floor. Coming off of a tough double overtime loss on Saturday to Saint Joseph’s, the Privateers looked as if they just didn’t have enough in them to make a push in the second half after only trailing by three at the end of the first half.
Senior forward Joe Hart (Frackville, PA/North Schuykill) led the way for the Mariners with 12 points, while another senior forward Josh Buck (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) added 10 points and was the only other Kings Point player to score in double digits. Turnovers were the difference in this game, as Kings Point took advantage of the Privateers mistakes scoring 18 points off of 15 turnovers. Maritime was only able to net four points from the 13 turnovers given up by the Mariners.
Senior point guard Marc Lashley sat out today’s game due to an ankle injury sustained on Saturday in the early goings at Saint Joseph’s. The time frame on his return is still not known at this time. Also, the Privateers were without freshman guard Nikero Barbes who just returned from his home in the Bahamas.
After tonight’s win, the Mariners now break even on the year and move to 7-6 overall and 2-1 in the Skyline, the Privateers are 2-11 and 1-4 in the Skyline. Maritime’s back in action on Wednesday for another tough conference game, when they travel to Newburgh, NY to take on the Blue Knights of Mount Saint Mary.
