New York City Tech 103, Baruch 93

BROOKLYN, NY — HANLEY NETS CAREER-HIGH 26 POINTS FOR NYCCT Junior guards Kareem Hanley (Canarsie/Brooklyn, NY) and Clyde Forteau (St. Raymond’s/Bronx, NY) each nailed four three-pointers in the first half en route to a 53-31 halftime lead for City Tech City Tech (9-4, 6-0 CUNY) today in CUNYAC action at NYCCT’s Klitgord Center. Baruch College (11-5, 4-2) made things interesting with a 24-6 early second half run to cut City Tech’s lead to 59-55, but the Yellow Jackets held on to win their fourth straight contest, 103-93 and more importantly, remain perfect in CUNYAC action.
Sophomore forward Otis Saylee (Seward Park/New York, NY), who had one point at the break, had five field goals and went 5-6 from the free throw line in the second stanza to help hold off the charge. As a team, City Tech went 14-18 from the charity stripe in the last 2:09 to hold off the Bearcats, who were intentionally fouling the Yellow Jackets in the final minutes to try and get even.
Senior center Shacun Malave (DeWitt Cinton/Bronx, NY) had his ninth double-double of the season for the Yellow Jackets with 13 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Fellow senior, Jason Senior (Satellite Academy/Brooklyn, NY) added 14 points, four assists and had two more treys in City Tech’s 10-16 first half performance from long distance.
Junior guard Louie Karis (Xaverian/Brooklyn, NY) led the Bearcats with 24 points, and senior guard John Burzo (St. Peter’s/Brooklyn, NY) had 21 points in the game. Another guard, junior Robi Davidson (Beverly Hills/Beverly Hills, CA) had four treys off the bench and 16 points in total, while sophomore center Cheick Fadika (Petit College/Abidjan, Ivory Coast) added 14 points and 10 boards to lead the team.
Next up for both City Tech teams is a ‘trip’ to nearby Medgar Evers College on Wednesday, January 19 for a CUNYAC doubleheader (women at 5:00 pm & men at 7:00 pm).
