RIVERDALE, NY — Senior Mitch Senat (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund’s Prep HS) scored a season-high 25 points after shooting 9 for 11 from the floor, and James Mooney (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep HS) added 22 points as the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball team stunned the Stevens Institute of Technology, 85-68 in a Skyline Conference match-up played at the Hayes Gymnasium in Riverdale, New York. With the win, the Dolphins improve to 5-9 overall and 3-5 in the Skyline Conference, and suddenly find themselves back in the hunt for the Skyline Conference Championship after defeating one of the top teams in the Conference.

After a tight first half that saw the Dolphins leading 39-38 at halftime, the Dolphins went on a 19-0 run during a seven-minute stretch of the second half to turn a 54-53 advantage into a commanding lead. For the game, the Mount shot 49% from the floor and out-rebounded Stevens, 48-35. Sophomore Luigi Nikci (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond’s HS) had his ninth double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

For Stevens (6-8, 3-2 Skyline Conference), Waleed Farid scored a team-high 22 points.

Next up for Mount Saint Vincent is a clash with current Skyline Conference leader, Farmingdale State. The game will be a home contest on Saturday, Jan. 22 at noon.
