Delaware Valley 72, Chestnut Hill 61

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Delaware Valley College used a 20-3 run in the second half to break a 40-40 tie and cruise to a 72-61 victory over visiting Chestnut Hill College in a non-conference game.

The Aggies (6-8) led throughout the contest until Rick Ferraiolo hit back-to-back baskets for the Griffins (8-7) to tie the game at 40-40 with 12:32 remaining.

However, Delaware Valley responded by scoring 20 of the game’s next 23 points, including seven straight, to open a 60-43 advantage with 7:18 to go. Mike Ezell led the charge with eights points while Orlon Baker and Isaiah Pinckney had six points apiece.

Chestnut Hill tried to make a comeback as a pair of Ferraiolo free throws made it 66-52 with 4:59 to go, but Maurice Slaughter hit three straight buckets for the Aggies to give them the largest lead of the game, 72-52, with 2:20 remaining.

Slaughter led all Delaware Valley players with 14 points while also adding seven rebounds. Mike Zupa notched 13 points while Orlon Baker contributed 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
