Cortland State 93, D'Youville 51

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Five Cortland players scored in double-figures, led by junior Brian Kirchhoff's (Webster) 18 points, as the Red Dragons defeated D'Youville, 93-51, for their fourth straight victory.

Cortland (9-4) shot 57 percent in the first half and raced out to a 49-25 halftime lead. Sophomore Dave Jutton (Red Hook) scored all 12 of his points and junior Frank Ranieri (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse) tallied 10 of his 12 points in the first 20 minutes. Jutton shot 5-of-7 from the field and Ranieri was 6-of-9.

Kirchhoff scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half. He finished 7-of-9 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. Sophomore Dave Maggiacomo (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) connected on 3-of-4 three-pointers and wrapped up with 11 points in 10 minutes of playing time. Senior Justin O'Garrow (Port Washington/Paul D. Schreiber) added 10 points, five assists and three steals.

Freshman Michael Jankiewicz (Oriskany) scored nine points, six in the first half, for the Red Dragons. Three players – Ranieri, freshman Joe Sargent (Rochester/Rush-Henrietta) and junior Simon Skrelja (Hastings-on-Hudson/Hastings) – grabbed seven rebounds apiece and Kirchhoff had six rebounds.

Cortland made 11-of-22 three-pointers and shot 48 percent overall from the floor. The Red Dragons outrebounded the Spartans, 50-32, and held the hosts to 35 percent shooting.

Ross King (Silver Springs/Letchworth) and Nick Wahl (Holland) led D'Youville (4-11) with 12 points apiece. Justin Cooke (Lanham, MD/Albert Einstein) added eight points and 10 rebounds and Kyle Ward (Lafayette, IN/Central Catholic) dished out six assists.
