Coast Guard 75, Connecticut College 60

NEW LONDON, Conn. — Freshman Jeff Prebeck had a game-high 19 points while classmate Al Sowers added 17 leading Coast Guard to a 75-60 win over Conn. College at Coast Guard’s Roland Fieldhouse. The win was just the Bears second win over the Camels in the last 11 years.
Coast Guard jumped out to an 11-0 lead with 14:54 left in the first half, as the Camel missed their first seven shots of the game.
Conn. used a 12-0 run to take its first lead of the game 15-14 with 11:12 left in the half. The Camels built a five-point lead (29-24), but Coast Guard led 38-37 at halftime.
Coast Guard built the lead to seven at 53-46 on a Kevin Edes basket with 11:02 left before the Camels scored five straight to cut the lead to 53-51 with 9:36 left.
The Bears led 58-54 and then used an 8-2 spurt capped by a Prebeck basket with 2:47 left to put the game away, taking a 66-56 lead.
Craig Johnson and Dan Sheppard were also in double figures for Coast Guard with 11 and 10 points respectively. Sheppard also grabbed 10 rebounds while Prebeck had a game-high 11 rebounds for Coast Guard.
Charles Stone led the Camels (3-12) with 16 points and eight rebounds while Zak Harris added 11 points for Conn. College.
