Carleton shot 52 percent in the first half, including 6-for-9 from three-point range, in leading 35-19 at the break. The Knights stretched the lead to as many as 27 points on a Khalid Lakanwal three-pointer with six minutes remaining.
Jeff Tendall was the lone Cardinal in double figures with 14 points. SMU (2-12, 1-8 MIAC) shot 31 percent from the floor and had more turnovers (19) than field goals (16).
Kyle Beste paced the Knights with 13 points and four assists and Tommy Drake added 12 points and eight rebounds for Carleton, which beat SMU for the ninth straight time. Carleton canned 10 three-pointers, marking the second straight game the Knights have made 10 or more three-pointers. The Carleton reserves accounted for four of the 10 triples.
