Roanoke led 36-25 at the half and was ahead by 11 (50-39) with 10 minutes left. The Hornets used an 8-0 surge, behind two three-pointers from sophomore Mandi Campbell (Charlottesville, VA/Monticello) to pull within three at the 8:13 mark. The Maroon defense held LC to just a pair of free throws the rest of the game, and won despite only scoring one point in the final 5:47.
Junior forward Lacey Currle (Fairfax, VA/Bishop O’Connell) had 12 points, tying for the game high, and added five boards and four steals. Campbell finished with 10 points and five assists, and sophomore Caroline Cubbage (Bridgewater, VA/Turner Ashby) posted five points and four rebounds in 16 minutes.
Cindy McGraw scored 12 points for Roanoke (10-4/6-4 ODAC), while Chandra Forrester tallied seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Lynchburg (6-8/3-6 ODAC) hosts Hollins University Tuesday at 7 p.m. in another ODAC game.
