Millsaps 57, Centre 54

DANVILLE, KY — After winning five straight and eight of its last nine games, the Centre College men's basketball team dropped its second straight game 57-54 to Millsaps College, Sunday, Jan. 16, in Jackson, Miss.

Millsaps improves to 3-10 overall on the year and 2-3 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Centre drops to 11-4 overall and 3-2 in conference action.

Sandro Norris led three Majors in double-figures scoring a game-high 20 points on eight of 13 shooting. Justin LeBlanc and Rodney Rogan notched 11 points each in the win.

Senior guard Kyle Roby scored 13 points to lead the Colonels. Roby was only two of three from the field, but made eight of eight from the charity stripe. Freshman guard Thomas Britt added a season-high 12 points off the bench in the loss.

Millsaps led the entire game, leading by as many as seven points in the first half on two occasions. The two teams would go to the locker room with the Majors leading 24-19.

Millsaps would push the lead to as many as 15 points (52-37) in the second half, only to see Centre go on a 17-3 run to pull within one point (55-54) at the 1:37 mark. The Colonels had two opportunities to take the lead, but missed two shots and had to to foul. Norris made two free-throws to give Millsaps a 57-54 win.

Centre once again struggled from the floor shooting only 26.3% (5-19) in the first half and 37.5% (18-48) for the game. Millsaps shot 59.1% (13-22) in the second half and 45.3% (24-53) for the game.

The Colonels will travel to San Antonio, Texas, Friday, Jan. 21, to play Trinity University. The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. CST.
