Hartwick 49, Bard 47

ONEONTA, N.Y. — Freshman forward Eddie McAdoo (LaSalle Institute/Troy, N.Y.) scored 19 points, including two free throws with three seconds left in the second half, to lift Hartwick College to a 49-47 victory over Bard College on Sunday at Binder Gymnasium.

Freshman forward Sterling Green (Burlington Township/Burlington Township, N.J.) made two free throws to give the Hawks (2-10) a 47-44 lead with seven seconds left. On the ensuing possession, McAdoo stole the ball from junior guard Collin Orcutt (Hebron Academy/Thomaston, Maine) and was immediately fouled with three seconds remaining.

Junior forward Adam Turner (Westfield/New York, N.Y.) hit a three-pointer as time expired for the Raptors (3-8).

McAdoo made 6 of 12 field goals and connected on 5 of 8 from three-point range. Freshman guard/forward Greg Betancourt (Northern Highlands, N.J.) had 14 points, four rebounds and two steals for Hartwick, which took a 28-23 lead into halftime.

Senior center Mike Wawrzonek (South Side/Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and senior forward Mike Leighton (Boothbay Regional/Trevett, Maine) helped the Hawks secure the non-conference victory with their defensive play. Wawrzonek finished with 10 rebounds and Leighton hauled in seven rebounds.

Bard received 19 points and four rebounds from Turner. Orcutt had 12 points and junior forward Josef Woldense (Kingston/Asmara, Eritrea) contributed seven points and 12 rebounds.
