Webster 110, MacMurray 89

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — The MacMurray men's basketball team lost a game they probably should have won against Principia in their last outing and were hoping to get a road win against Webster today. That didn't work out well for them as they were defeated 110-89 and were out-rebounded 59-47. They were able to force 33 turnovers in the game but turned it over 33 times also and had no advantage. As they shot 37% from the field and 22% from long range, they just did not have enough fire power to keep up with the physical Gorloks. Trailing 57-50 at half-time, they were out scored 53-39 in the 2nd half and it wasn't close at the end. They were whistled for 37 fouls and the Gorloks shot 54 free throws in the game to 33 by MacMurray and that didn't help matters. In my opinion, this was a poorly officiated game and the inconsistency, on both ends of the floor, caused frustration for the players and coaches. It resulted in a technical on Coach DeNeve who is normally even tempered as he saw a littme more than his patience could handle. Webster got double figure results from 5 different players in the win. For the Highlanders, they had some good news as Cunningham came off the bench with 11 points, Robinson scored 12, Eberhart 10 and Garrett had his 2nd double-figure game in a row with 10. Robinson was 6-9 from the field with 12 rebounds in the loss. The Highlanders are 3-10 on the year and will be home next Wednesday against Greenville.
