The Blue Devils (10-3, 6-1) stayed tied for first with UW-Stevens Point, which crushed UW-Superior, 77-55.
Stout held Eau Claire to only 35 percent shooting from the floor and the Blugolds (10-5, 4-3) hurt their own cause by hitting only 47 percent (14-of-30) of their free throws.
Stout trailed only in the opening minutes of the game, then raced out to a 37-21 halftime lead. Freshman Adam Chandler paced the Blue Devils in the half, scoring 11 of his game-high 19 points. Chandler was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc in the first half and finished making 4-of-8 long range treys.
IT was off to the races in the second half as Stout built up to as much as a 30-point lead, 67-37, with six minutes remaining in the game. The lead never dipped below 20 points after the nine minute mark.
Chandler also collected five steals and dished off four assists. Greg Chaisson, making only his second start of the season, tossed in 15 points and pulled down six rebounds. Terry Farmer added 11 points, hitting 7-of-8 free throws. Jacob Nonemacher hauled in eight rebounds and blocked five shots.
Casey Drake led the Blugolds with 13 points. Dan Archambault and Will Jefferson each contributed 10 points.
