York (Pa.) 82, St. Mary's (Md.) 66

St. Mary's City, MD — The York (PA) men’s basketball team scored 53 points in the second half in defeating St. Mary’s (MD), 82-66, in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) action on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Spartans improve to 13-1 overall on the season and 3-1 in the CAC, while the Seahawks fall to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference with the loss.

The Seahawk took a 31-29 lead into halftime, but the Spartans exploded in the second half after claiming the lead for good in the contest with a three-point field goal from junior guard Brandon Bushey with 18:35 remaining. The Spartans outscored the Seahawks 32-15 to open the half and never looked back, thanks in large part to a 38-18 scoring advantage in the paint in the contest and a 20-2 advantage in second chance points. The Spartans won the battle of the boards by a 53-24 margin.

Junior forward Kenny Fass posted a double-double for the Spartans with a game-high tying 20 points and game-high 13 rebounds. He was one four players in double figures for York (PA). Junior center Brian Singer scored 15 points and collected seven rebounds, while Bushey and Paddy Lee added 11 and ten points, respectively. Lee also recorded a game-high eight assists in the contest.

For the Seahawks, freshman guard T. J. Jordan scored a game-high tying 20 points with five rebounds and three steals. Senior forward Jeffrey Turner added 15 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman guard Ryan Junghans contributed with 14 points and four assists, while senior forward John Dewey chipped in with ten points before fouling out of the contest.

The Seahawks (5-8, 1-3 CAC) will return to action on Monday, January 17, when they travel to Lincoln University for a non-conference contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
