Elms 69, Mount Ida 53

NEWTON, Ma. — Elms College freshman forward Amy Kasala (Dalton, MA) scored a team-high 21 points and the Blazers held Mount Ida to just 22.1-percent shooting to post a convincing 71-53 win over the Mustangs in Saturday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women’s basketball game at Newton.

Kasala scored 20 or more points for the fourth time this season for the Blazers, who snapped a five-game losing streak to improve to 3-9 overall, 3-5 NAC. Mount Ida fell to 5-5 overall, 3-2 NAC.

Freshman guard Raemarie Josefiak (Holyoke, MA) had 13 points, including three 3-pointers and junior forward Danielle Dugre (Holyoke, MA) added 12 points as the other players to reach double figures for the Blazers, who led 35-23 at intermission.

Elms College returns to non-conference play on Tuesday, January 18 at WNEC. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
