UNION, NJ — The Kean University men’s basketball team placed three players in double figures, led by junior forward Armet Coles (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter’s), who scored 20 points and added seven rebounds, as it defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 84-62, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday.NJAC Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors

Kean improves to 10-4 overall and 4-3 in the NJAC. Rutgers-Camden falls to 2-13 and 0-6.
The Cougars built a 42-25 halftime lead and placed 12 players in the scoring column as they posted their third win in four games. Senior guard Tan Kessler (Istanbul, Turkey/Paksoy Lisesi) notched 12 points and a game-high six assists for Kean, while sophomore forward Bryan Keller (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) had 10 points.
Kean out-rebounded Rutgers-Camden, 43-28, and shot 53.2 percent (33-for-62) from the field. Rutgers-Camden shot only 37.3 percent (22-for-59).
Kean also collected eight blocked shots, including four by senior forward Russell Jordan (San Antonio, TX/William H. Taft).
For the Scarlet Raptors, who have lost three straight games, sophomore guard Dane Nicholson (Pleasantville, NJ/Holy Spirit) collected 19 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Freshman guard Amir Fantroyal (Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek) added 11 points, while senior guard Tyrone Rucker (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) had 10 points and five rebounds.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Monday when they host Rutgers-Newark in a 2 p.m. NJAC game.
