ABILENE, Tx. — Lobos in Two-Game Slump

01/15/05- Sul Ross finds themselves in a two game losing streak after Saturday’s 85-73 loss to Hardin Simmons in Abilene. The loss could possibly drop Sully to a fourth place position behind Texas Lutheran in the West Division.

Only two Lobos reached double figures in Saturday’s game. El Paso native Art Gonzalez led scorers with 15 points followed by Derric Workman’s (Odessa) 10 points. Sid Hooper (Andrews) missed the 10-point plus mark for the first time this year as he tallied 8 points for the afternoon. Senior Rockland Owens (Wharton) had a season career day at the boards with his 15 rebounds followed by Justin Steward’s (Texico, NM) nine.

Sully fought an uphill battle from the field shooting 33% (35% from long distance) while hitting 62% of its free throws.

Saturday’s loss to the Cowboys gives Sully a 10-3 season record and 8-3 in ASC play. The Lobos are 1-2 in West Division action.

Sul Ross will try to regroup as they head to Brownwood on Monday for a date with the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets.
