Fitchburg, MA — Fitchburg State lost its second conference game of the season, falling 85-75 to Salem State in men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons (2-11, 0-2 MASCAC), after being down by 15 points at one point in the second half, had gotten the score as close as 77-75 Vikings with 1:26 to play before Salem (11-2, 1-0 MASCAC) went on an 8-0 run to close the scoring.

FSC had broken out to a 9-0 lead early in the contest via a three-pointer by Matt Collins, a pair of layups by Nick Smith and a lay upby Adam DiZuzio, before SSC came back and claimed the lead with just over ten minutes remaining in the first half on a lay up by Willie Phillips to make it 21-19 Salem.

The Vikings were down 19-16 before they went on a 19-2 run over the next 3:39 to claim a 35-21 lead late in the first half.

Victor Wilkens led all scorers with a game-high 20 points for the Vikings, while Anosike Ifesinachi added 16. Rashad Cope and Jim Prignano had a team-high 16 points each for Fitchburg. Smith had a double-double for Fitchburg (10 points, 11 rebounds).
