Buena Vista shot 58 percent (29 of 50) from the floor and 55 percent (12 of 22) from three point range. The Beavers outrebounded Simpson 37 to 31.
Brandon Kies and Michael Cameron each scored 15 points for Buena Vista. Randy Bissen added 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
With the game tied 45-45 with 15:00 remaining in the game, Wiebers scored 11 straight points to put Buena Vista ahead 56-45. Simpson would get no closer than nine points the remainder of the game. Wiebers' previous single game scoring high was 34 points last season against Viterbo College.
Simpson was led by Ryan Hittenmiller who scored 15 points. Jason Parkinson, Jason Soppe, and Adam Thorson all tallied 10 points in the losing effort. Soppe grabbed a team-high nine boards.
Buena Vista, ranked seventh in the country, returns to play on Wednesday by hosting Coe College. Tip-off at Siebens Fieldhouse is set for 8:00 pm.
