Transy improved to 12-2 overall and remained in first place in the Heartland Conference with a 4-0 record. Bluffton, which defeated nationally ranked Hanover earlier this year, drops to 7-7 and 1-3 in the HCAC.
The Pioneers led by seven, 38-31, at intermission and led by as many as 15 points in the second half. The Beavers got to within two, 67-65, on a three by Scott Bergman with 4:11 to play, but despite fouling down the stretch, could never catch up.
Nick Feagan came off the bench to score 20 points and block four shots for Transy. Bryan Howard added 12 points and four assists.
Transy shot 54.5 percent for the game, but was only four of 13 from long range. Bluffton shot 53.8 percent in the second half, but just 42.9 percent for the contest. Bluffton was five of 16 from long range. Both teams made 28 free throws.
Scott Bergman scored 30 points to lead the Beavers, including 10 of 10 from the free throw line. Eric Sweet added 13 points.
Transy entertains No. 15 Hanover on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. It will be Coaches vs. Cancer Night as the Transy athletics department joins with the American Cancer Society to raise awareness and money for cancer research. Several items will be available for a silent auction, including sports memorabilia, restaurant and golf course gift certificates, and tickets to see the Cincinnati Reds.
