Franklin College had 40 total rebounds to the Ravens’ 28. Moreover, the Grizzlies had 17 of theirs on the offensive end.
That helped FC rebound from a five-point deficit midway in the second half to improve to 3-1 in the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference and 11-4 overall. Anderson dropped to 0-4 in the league and 7-8.
FC worked the ball well on offense, piling up 19 assists, including eight by sophomore point guard Alan Davidson.
The Grizzlies broke out to a nine-point lead at 23-14 with 10:21 to go in the opening period before the Ravens went on a 11-0 run over the next three minutes to take a 25-23 advantage. Anderson held a one-point edge at 34-33 at the intermission.
In the second half, the Ravens opened their biggest lead of the game of five points at 58-53 with 9:39 remaining, but saw the Franklin rally to take a 63-62 lead on a three-point basket by senior Justin Brown with 5-1/2 minutes left. After AU tied it up with a free throw, Franklin got a three-pointer from freshman Jon Neill 30 seconds later to give the Grizzlies the lead for good. Anderson never got closer than two points the rest of the way.
The Grizzlies were led by senior Nick Scott with 18 points, including a trio of three-point baskets. Junior Nick Kane had 12 points and seven rebounds and senior Jared Sabelhaus added 11 points.
Anderson got 17 points and five assists from Andy Warren (son of Franklin women's basketball alumna Judi Warren ’80). J.D. Clampitt had 15 points and Lloyd DeLoatch added 14 for the Ravens, who out-shot FC 47 to 44 percent.
