Lawrence 72, Illinois College 60

APPLETON, Wis. — The No. 10 Lawrence University men's basketball team shook off a slow start and then stymied a late Illinois College rally to beat the Blueboys 72-60 in a Midwest Conference game Friday at Alexander Gymasium.

Chris Braier paced Lawrence (7-2, 2-2 MWC) with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jason Holinbeck added 15 points, Brendan Falls had 13 and Kyle MacGillis chipped in with 12.

Dylan Dudley paced Illinois College (4-8, 0-5) with 19 points and seven rebounds.

The Blueboys grabbed a 17-13 lead with 12:46 left in the first half, but the Vikings held Illinois College scoreless for the next eight minutes. Lawrence led 28-20 at that point and went on to lead 37-20 at the half.

The Vikings led by as many as 22 points in the second half before the Blueboys rallied. Illinois College chipped away and cut the lead to 64-58 with 3:20 left.

The Vikings then hit 8 of 10 from the foul line to secure the victory.
