Bates 71, Bowdoin 46

LEWISTON, Maine -- — Trailing by a point with six minutes remaining in the first half, the Bates College men’s basketball team went on a 13-4 run to take a 33-22 halftime lead. Seven minutes into the second, the Bobcats led by 23 thanks to the three-point shooting of Brian Gerrity ’05 (Augusta, Maine).

Gerrity finished with a game-high 24 points, shooting 9-for-16 from the field and hitting 5 of 10 from beyond the arc in Bates’ 71-46 win over Bowdoin.

The Bobcats (10-4 overall, 1-0 NESCAC) shot 47.5 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point land. Bowdoin (7-5, 0-1) shot at a 37 percent clip but converted only 4 of 16 three-point attempts.

Bates’ Rob Stockwell ’07 (Temple, N.H) finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double this season. He averages 14 points and nearly eight boards per game.

Andrew Hippert ’08 (Spencer, Mass.) scored a team-high 12 points for Bowdoin; Andrew Sargeantson ’08 (New Canaan, Conn.) finished with nine points and six rebounds.
