Rhode Island College 62, MIT 42

PROVIDENCE, RI. — Rhode Island College improved its record to 9-4 with a, 62-42, win over M.I.T. in a non-conference matchup on Thursday night. The Anchormen held the Engineers to their lowest offensive output of the season as M.I.T. falls to 6-6.

RIC has won its last three games and is in the midst of its third, three-game winning streak of the season. The 42 points allowed by RIC was also a season-low for the Anchormen, who won on the strength of their defense.

RIC had four players score in double figures, led by senior guard Andre Daley’s (Boston, MA) game-high 19 points. Daley has scored 13 or more points in his last four games. Senior forward Jason Harris (Bedford, MA) had 11 points and ten rebounds, notching his seventh double-double of the season. Sophomore guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) and freshman guard Davon Yarbrough (New Haven, CT) chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

M.I.T. struggled offensively and shot 30 percent from the floor (15-49). Senior forward Mike Huhs (Mercer Island, WA) and senior guard Adam Gibbons (Bridgewater, NJ) each scored nine points in a losing effort for the Engineers.

In upcoming action, RIC will play at Keene State on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m. The Engineers will play at Babson on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m.
