Muskingum 68, Wilmington 61

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — The Wilmington College Quakers dropped their second straight game, this one to Muskingum College by a 68-61 count.

Deon Short led the way for the Quakers with 17 points while David Guy and Eric Stirling each added 14 points.

The Quakers jumped out to a fast start, taking a 12-5 lead four minutes into the game, increasing their lead to as many as nine with 10:14 to play in the half before the Muskies started fighting back, ending the half on a 20-6 run, giving the hosts a five-point, 29-24 halftime lead.

Muskingum increased their second half lead to as many as 12 points with 14:14 to play in the game, before the Quakers used a 13-0 run to take a one-point lead four minutes later. The Muskies responded with a 9-0 run of their own, as the Quakers did not lead again for the remainder of the game. The visitors got to within five points in the waning moments, but it was not enough in the seven-point loss.

Short led the way with 17 points while Guy and Stirlinghad 14 apiece. Short and Stirling each pulled down four rebounds for the Quakers, as Stirling dished out a team-high four assists. The Quakers attempted just two free throws in the game, compared to 30 attempts and 23 makes for the Muskies.

Jeremy Ady scored a career-high 19 points for the Muskies, as Zach Ross scored 16, Cole Pittis scored 11 and Matt Dansby 10.

With the loss, the Quakers fall to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in the OAC while Muskingum improves to 9-5 on the year and 4-3 in league play.

The next game for the Green and White is on Saturday, January 15, when the team plays host to the Purple Raiders of Mount Union College with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
