Fisk took an eight-point lead into the second half. The Bulldogs (5-6, 2-1 GSAC) were paced by the perimeter shooting of Chris Adams. In the first half, he tallied 15 points after hitting five treys in seven attempts. Aaron Hinton provided 11 points in the initial stanza to help Fisk to the 45-37 halftime lead.
The Fighting Scots (11-4, 3-0 GSAC) were paced by the 13-point first halves of Bobby Golden and Sidney Ellis.
The key to the Bulldogs first half advantage was their torrid three-point shooting. They connected on 78% of their attempts, hitting eleven of fourteen shots. MC hit on three of eleven attempts.
Maryville would quickly erase the deficit as Monte Calloway opened the second period with a pair of three-point baskets.
The Scots defense would limit Fisk’s Adams to only two second half points, as he finished the evening with 17. Aaron Hinton led the Bulldogs with 18 points.
Maryville had four players in double figures on the evening. All-American Sidney Ellis led all scorers with 22 points. Sophomore post player Bobby Golden recorded 21 points and 9 rebounds. Bo Mason provided a spark off the bench with 12 points from the perimeter. Senior guard Monte Calloway added 10.
Jeremy Holliday led all on the boards with 10 rebounds.
Maryville will host Piedmont College in a Great South Athletic Conference double-header in the Cooper Athletic Center on Saturday, January 15th. The Lady Scots will tip-off at 2:00. The Fighting Scots will follow at 4:00.
